The purpose of Calculator is to provide flexibility to the website user in terms of exploring key landuse and landscape relationships in Alberta. Specifically, the calculator allows the user to build their own relevant metrics and chart the results.

For example, let's assume that a user is interested in knowing how much wood fiber is harvested in Alberta on a per capita basis and whether this ratio has changed through time. The current website contains historic data on both annual wood harvest volume (m3) and the human population in Alberta. Using the "Calculator" the user could divide the human population into the annual wood volume harvest and create a new variable called Per capita wood harvest volume in Alberta. This ratio is then plotted against time and the relationship is revealed.

Currently, these relationships can not be saved within the website.
